If you know me even just a little, you know that I love talking about the wonders and healing power of plants. I love to share stories and experiences I have had with plants. Experiences I’ve had while working with plants in my healing work, while learning about plants, and while coming across plants in my dreams or in my walks around the neighborhood. I love talking about plants and their gifts because I have seen them in action. I have seen the wonders of their medicine help transform the lives of people, clients, colleagues, family and friends. And I am forever grateful for their presence in our world, for their beauty and their generosity.

Just as the video describes, when we feel lonely, stressed or anxious we need to reach out to plants. We need to be around the wonders and healing power of plants. Gardening is therapeutic and beautifying but even beyond that, contact with plants begins to help us heal. Working with plants and being around them can help us remember who we are, what is important in our life and how to regain perspective when we feel lost or without purpose.

Plants have been around a very, very long time. They do know us intimately. Plants that pop up around our home do in fact have good medicine for us. They know what ails us and they can teach us how to live better in our environment. This process does require openness, time, exchange and being in good relationship with them. But it can be life-affirming and life-changing.

The video above is part of my Self-Care Saturday collection.
